The other day at work, I was speaking to a man on the phone and inquired about his location. He said he was in Delaware. I love geography and traveling but had not a thing to inquire about or make conversation about this man's location. I started giving some thought as to if there are any other states in our nation as equally uninteresting. Most every state has some major city, rich history, major problem or catchy nickname associated with it. Delaware has none of this. I considered the state's next door neighbor, Maryland, and it at least has Baltimore, and a little known fried chicken fast food franchise that bears its name. I've eaten there once and found it fair. A scan of the map westward leads one to another competitor for "Most Boring State". This state is Indiana. There was a commercial in the 1980s that aired during the Bozo Show for a place called Indiana Beach. The cartoon crow would say, "Indiana Beach proves that there is more in Indiana than just corn." However, the state also lays claim to the well known auto race that nobody I know watches. Alas, it still has that going for it. Does Delaware host a major sporting event that nobody in the south watches? None that I know of. Moving further westward will lead one to consider Iowa, which gives Delaware a run for its money. It does boast a state capital made up of two words, but that is not part of the public conscience. For fans of politics, Iowa hosts a straw poll that is supposed to indicate the top contenders for president, but even after the first primary thereafter, the results are forgotten. However, this regular, yet soon forgotten event, puts the state a notch above Delaware. One more state westward is Delaware's fiercest competitor for most boring state. Nebraska is unique in that it is the only state that rhymes with another and does not have a East, West, North or South counterpart. There is one piece of trivia about Delaware that is a tad more significant than Nebraska's rhyming name. Do you know what it is? See if you can figure it out. I encourage you the reader to research this on your own. If you figure it out, reply to this blog and show off your independent research. Until then, the question remains. Is there any love for Delaware out there? I don't mean to hate on the state, but what is there to love or like? Share your thoughts!.

Does anyone out there love Delaware?
